The Game
Microgaming’s Highlander™, released on 6th December 2017, is a video slot game based on the cult classic 1986 film which starred Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert. It’s a 5-reel, 243 ways-to-win slot that involves battles between bunches of immortal swordsmen.
During play, you’ll be transported to the film’s iconic locations that are between the Scottish highlands and a stormy New York City. You will certainly fall in love with the game’s stunning graphics and a blistering rock soundtrack that accompanies a bevy of exciting features.
If you’re looking for a slot game with an electrifying experience, packed with huge win potential, then you can never go wrong with Highlander™ Slot.
The Rules
Highlander™ online slot brings you countless winning opportunities with bet amount of as low as $0.40 per spin. The maximum bet is $30, and it’s pretty straightforward to adjust the bet size. When you’re done, hit the ‘Spin’ button and enjoy. To spin for a predetermined set of rounds uninterruptedly, simply click on the ‘Auto-play’ option and you’ll see an icon that allows you to choose the number of auto-spins.
You’ll want to look out for the Highlander characters: Brenda Wyatt, The Kurgan, Heather, and Connor Macleod (past and present) as they make up the higher-paying symbols. The standard J, A, K, 10, and Q represent the lower-paying game symbols.
This slot game is charged with two powerful wild symbols, which are represented by Highlander emblem. Wilds are the highest paying symbols and can substitute for any other symbols or reels to form winning combos, except for the scatter symbols. If you get lucky enough, you can win a whopping $102,500.
2 scatter symbols
When 2 scatters appear anywhere on the reels during the base game, they will activate the ‘stroke of a sword’ feature. Well, this will turn the scatters into wild symbols, which increase the potential to walk away with big wins.
Free Spins
If at least 3 scatter symbols show up on the screen, you’ll trigger the bonus game and as a result, be rewarded with 10 free spins. Regrettably, though, you can’t re-trigger the free spins during this round.
Quickening Wild symbols
When the Free Spins have been triggered, they can activate the Quickening Wilds— which is potentially the most exciting feature here. With this feature, lightning strikes the reels randomly and turns the symbols wild regardless of their positions on the reels. The electrifying part is that, more symbols will be turned wild with every strike.
Our verdict
Online slot fans definitely won’t be able to resist this visually stunning branded slot game from Microgaming. It captures the spirit of the original film just perfectly. And with the excellent design, soundtrack, and great payout potential, Highlander is certainly here to offer you an exciting slot gaming experience.

Before you spin
Open the game’s information screen and read the RTP it states: some studios let operators choose between several RTP settings, so the same pokie can return less at one casino than at another. Pick a stake from your bankroll, not from the size of the jackpot, and remember that a bonus usually caps the bet while it is active: the max-bet guide shows how one oversized spin can void a win. What an hour costs at your stake is in the cost-per-hour table.
